Replaced a front pivot that was stubbornly difficult to push out. My thumb thanks me.

It’s a previous version of Tacom HQ’s Alpha TARAC. Zero the RDS/scope, flip the prism up and it shifts the optic zero and you can hold dead center at a longer range. They have different options based on barrel length and ammo. Probably unnecessary, but not complicated. I haven’t actually used it much.
I petted them

Swapped out an A5H3 for a BCM Mk2 mod 1 buffer…closest I could get to an A5H4 in the colt SOCOM barreled Block II.
Confirmed zero and banged some steel for 100 rounds for function test. Noticeably softer shooting. Decent groups, too, for 25°F and blowing 30 mph.
Also changed out the A2 grip for a BCM mod 3….to hell with clone correct!
I I picked this AFAB up as part of a deal last summer. It’s been…a curiosity.
Today I mounted it to the Colt 6960 CCU upper. Lazy and didn’t want to mess with a bunch of washers, so ended up around 25-30 ft-lb of torque.
Since this is a lightweight barrel, I include some photos of the new and former muzzle devices.
Did some function testing with the weakest ammo I will use.
Omg I don’t even know where to start. Had a friend visit today that is a marine armorer. We went through a small herd of AR’s. Installed Magpul PRS lite stock & A5 tubes and springs, geissele triggers and optics. Every rifle got a check up, cleaning and lube.
Amazing the small things we corrected. Recoil tubes incorrectly installed. Scopes mounted with less than ideal eye relief.
Positive observations the Colt 6920 police trade in was as new on the inside as the outside. Bolt and gas tube were new without wear or carbon.
4 different PSA premium uppers with FN barrels were assembled perfectly.
To thank this young Marine properly I sent him home 250 rounds of .308 match, 200 rounds of .223 with 77 smk, 500 rounds of NATO ball and a box full of AR parts.
Range day tomorrow will be epic.

Sold the 6933 upper. Super cool. Probably collectible sooner rather than later. But not something I need to keep and not shoot.
Switched out a well-loved SSA to an SSA-E X. *chortle. I like this thing. I sold the SSA along with some other items, and that was the excuse needed to pull the bandaid off a ridiculously expensive trigger still in packaging.
Also switched out a Geissele Posi-Snap ambi safety for the offset FCD with 90° throw. Not sure about that yet… The roll pins seem like an improvement over a screw, but the offset is awkward.
Assembled (dry fit) a 20” upper using Aero slick receiver, Midwest Industries Combat rail 13.375”, and Ballistic Advantage 20” heavy stainless barrel. Dimpled the barrel with the SLR jig.
Re-assembled a cheap Expo Arms receiver. Originally purchased to strip and use individual parts, **I was unable to remove the FCD 6315 muzzle device.** Started with a MI URR, then removed handguard and used vice clamps on barrel. Even ordered a Viper barrel vice but gave up and figured I’ll keep the $244 upper for what it is. Re-assembled. Note that the receiver-barrel fit was not tight in either the Expo barrel or the BA barrel mentioned above. Ultimately, I have a “trade as needed for something I really want” upper now.
