Tie a knot in it. Or put a glob of glue on the end.

Dip the ends in superglue or an epoxy resin.

Adhesive-lined heat-shrink tubing. Whipping first for thicker cord and rope.

When we used kevlar suspension line we would finger-trap and stitch it.
Muted color and cheap heat shrink.
