This is somewhat embarrassing, but I haven't shot pistol since January, so it's been at least six months. Admittedly I haven't done much dry fire with pistol either (I know, I know). My main pistol runs an ACRO, but I find myself carrying my VP9 with irons often enough that I decided to run this drill with it instead. I wanted to know how I'd do completely cold (extremely cold in my case) with just irons with my neglected bone stock VP9 covered in pocket lint. I literally pulled into my drive getting home from work, walked inside and grabbed the pistol, shot timer, and a B27 and ran the drill.
Base model HK VP9 with luminescent sights.
40 Yards. (I measured after and was actually at 45 yards, but not a big enough difference to matter).
From concealment.
15 second par time.
10 rounds loaded in the magazine.
Supported or Unsupported (I ran the drill unsupported).
Must score 8/10 rounds on the silhouette.
My results:
Greatest distance between hits was 13" exactly.
Apparently I have a deep subconscious hatred of left handed people.. or I just simply threw my shots right and need to address something in my shooting. (Really though, I think it's the first one).
I know there are people on this forum, likely in this very thread, that can smoke me in this drill. What that kid did was impressive for sure, but as Steyr mentioned, the most impressive part of it all was his ability to recognize the situation for what it was, and jump to action immediately. I think it's more a story of mindset than skill, though both is obviously preferable.
We should make a dedicated thread for this drill, no?
