I wouldn't give Sig that money either. Nothing there worth $1000

Sig is the Ruger of the 900-1200 dollar price range.
Except for a couple of my pistols that i use for EDC and home defense, they are mostly range toys. I use them for competition, plinking and running drills at the range. I love 1911's & Hi Powers but would never carry one as there are lighter less finicky options. I see this pistol falling into that catagory. A unique addition to the collection that may be a good competition option with the low bore axis and extra weight. And who gives a crap about a light. Tons of gun fighters throughout history survived without a light. Except for your bedside pistol or a uniformed duty gun lights are just more weight, bulky and not practical for constant use. If you only own one gun, yeah this one is probably not the one to get. But most of us have several so this fits the I want a cool Bladerunner looking gun to bust caps at the range. And if it turns out to be the bullet hose that it looks like, maybe a competition pistol. The price is is line with other high end metal framed pistols such as the Sig Legion, Wilson/Beretta Brigadier Tactical and a bunch of 1911's just south of custom. As long as it is reliable and passes high round count tests, all I have to say is...add to cart.

And in history no one could see.
Having a light offers a very distinct advantage over someone with out one, technology affords this advantage to some. Vision is priceless. To be able to carry a gun with a light is a game changer. Recently I added a Surefire XC1 to my carry Glock 19. I feel no difference in carrying it.
The other side is as others add lights, you are the one at a significant disadvantage if you come up against an adversary with a light and you do not have one.
Unless you don't leave your house after sunset I think carrying a gun with a light is a huge plus.
If you look closely at the second picture in the OP with the slide, barrel, and frame apart you car see there is a normal spring recoil assembly low in the frame. Above it in the dust cover is dead space and the the take down pin/lever deal. This is how the barrel is so low you can see locking lugs/sliders on the barrel and frame far forward too.
So its not a special recoil system, its a far forward and up pivot and locking point on the barrel and frame.
I'm super pumped to see a Ned Christiansen modded Hudson.
Now we're talking!
