Actually it's not State Dept. bullshit and the BATFE even mentioned this in a newsletter that was sent out.

It's like any other tax. Say they catch you five years from now. They'll say you've been in business for five years so you now owe 5 years of ITAR tax plus penalty and interest.
And yes, BATFE is now asking for proof of ITAR taxes paid when applying for a SOT. At least thats what the agent that is working with me on my ffl told me...
