old colt tactical carbine magazine seating problem

Hi folks got a question sorry if this was addressed have a used colt tactical 6721 H bar carbine i bought usedr since i bought it I have to force the magazine to seat properlyi pretty much have to push up into the mag well until seats In other words I place the magazine in the mag well then have to push it a second time makd it lock in place unlike my other newer ARs where I can seat the magazine with one push pull.Keep in mind it happens with USGI and Magpul mags and they are loaded to 28 rds I am seating with the bolt closed. I even replaced the magazine catch but still no luck once its seated it stays in place and have malfunctions but its annoying. Anyone have any suggestions?

Does the magazine still stick if you insert it with the upper receiver removed?

Is it a standard mag catch? '

Is the end of the shaft of the mag catch flush with the mag release button?

Push in the magazine release far enough to rotate the catch out of its slot and rotate it slightly out of its slot. Does the magazine still stick?
