I'm considering picking up the DD FSP rail. I don't think I've seen any photos of anybody running it here. It seems like that little bit of extra rail space would come in handy on the carbine allowing a more forward grip. Does the lack of photos indicate this isn't all that popular? Or do most people just not run with the fixed iron front sight?

i think it's a great rail, if you know what you're gonna use the added space for. the rail that comes on the DDM4 rifle is more versatile, because of the added rails IN FRONT of the FSB. but the trade-off is weight.

i'm using the 12.0 rail on my 16" middy but i knew that my light mount was gonna be mounted on the SIDE rails along the FSB, so it was perfect for me.

Right now I don't see myself mounting a light at the 12 o'clock position in front of the front sight post, which makes the 9.5 FSP more attractive. A side mounted light, along with the new Magpul AFG would give more room and less cramped spacing than the typical 7" rail provides.

I installed one on a carbine with a flip up front sight. It did require a little modification, but it is a very solid rail system.
