Safariland Weaponlight Fitment - Streamlight vs. Surefire

I’ve recently transitioned all of my long guns from Streamlight to Surefire Scout lights.

So such, I’m in the process of making the same jump with my pistols. Before I do, I don’t want to be forced into buying new Safariland holsters. I’m currently running 63XX ALS series holsters for Glock 17s & 19s w/ TLR1 HL weaponlights (with and without RDS). I know I’ll have to grab a new concealment holster so I’m not addressing that in this post.

Will the Surefire X300U or X300T fit the same Safariland holster designed for the TLR1HL?

I’ve been down a rabbit hole this weekend, trying to find a definitive answer. I found a compatibility chart that seems to indicate they will work, but the U and T versions of the X300 are not specifically called out on the chart.

    Any suggestions?

Safariland Weaponlight Fitment - Streamlight vs. Surefire

If I had to guess, I’d say no. The TLR-1 is a bit wider than the x300….I own both.

Just popped my TLR-1 on my G45, it will *technically* work in my 6354DO, locks into retention, but it’s a tight fit. I wouldn’t like it honestly.

I don’t see how it would work correctly. Kydex holsters are molded to specific handguns and wml/handgun combinations. There are reason manufacturers specify these combinations when you purchase them.

FWIW, I've watched some pretty objective and thorough testing of pistol WMLs. To my surprise the Streamlight TLR-1 beat the Surefire x300u in many aspects of durability, as well as light performance. The solution to your holster quandary may be a lot simpler than you thought.

    I'd use their holster finder.

I've read that many different light models do overlap, as Safariland doesn't make their holsters quite a form fitting as most Kydex manufacturers.
It's f*****g great, putting holes in people, all the time, and it just puts 'em down mate, they drop like sacks of s**t when they go down with this.

Yes, they'll work. Safariland has a single fit code for most "standard" weapon lights (obviously per gun). The 63XX series are also pretty forgiving because of the tension screw.

Check out the Will-Fit guides on the Safariland website.

You can look at all sorts of graphs and shit but really just buy the light and see if it fits. Ive gone through probably 8 different weapon light Safariland holsters over the last 17 years of my career. Of those probably 6 fit both no problem. I have one on my training battle belt that fits aX300 and not a TLR1.

Might not be the preferred solution, but rather than replace ALL my holsters, I just drop my SF X300 in a mag pouch. I get one less spare mag on my person but a much smoother and faster draw from a holster I already have great familiarity with. I can snap a SF on a carry gun faster than I can change a magazine.

If shit had started without me, probably not gonna be using the weapon light anyway. But if shit hasn't happened yet, I can use the X300 as a hand held to check my environment without having to draw my carry gun. And if shit is looking "iffy" at that point I can draw my carry gun and snap a light on the rail. So far it's been working well for me.

No, they absolutely will not. I went through this when I bought pistol lights and holsters and was told this exact advice and it was wrong. Get light specific holsters and save yourself the pain. Also, why are you swapping? Think hard about that before you do it... the TLR-1 is steamlight's masterpiece thus far. Don't mess with it, but if you get rid of yours I will buy them!
