    Tucker Carlson’s decline into irrelevance

    http://https://unherd.com/newsroom/t...rst-100-shows/

Declining viewership statistics substantiate that view. Initially, Carlson’s X episodes consistently garnered over 100 million impressions, reaching their zenith around the middle of last year. However, a precipitous drop is evident from mid-December, with episodes struggling to surpass the 50-million-view mark and most attracting 10-30 million views. Additionally, this metric, which counts views regardless of viewing duration and even includes autoplays occurring in newsfeeds, does not tell us how long or in what ways most viewers actually engaged with these episodes.

Genuine growth would come from working to broaden that declining base, not merely shoring it up. According to insiders, while the absence of a traditional corporate structure has granted Carlson increased autonomy, it has also eliminated a crucial layer of editorial oversight. These sources have noted a shift towards targeting a less discerning audience, emphasising sensationalism over substantive discourse in order to keep the attention of more credulous viewers — one insider notes a current “audience minus about 10-15 IQ points from the prime-time show” — interested in space aliens and Obama’s alleged gay trysts.
    Oof. Meanwhile…

Fox News Channel finished April as the most-watched cable news network, crushing MSNBC and CNN once again.

Fox News has now topped MSNBC and CNN for 38-straight months among total viewers and for 39-straight months during primetime.
I confess to a little Schadenfreude here since I have despised Tucker since he was on CNN in the early 00s.
Let those who are fond of blaming and finding fault, while they sit safely at home, ask, ‘Why did you not do thus and so?’I wish they were on this voyage; I well believe that another voyage of a different kind awaits them.”

I think Tucker got burned out. And that hurt his objectivity, and therefore is relevance. The anti-Ukrainian and pro Putin stuff kind of put me over the edge. This laying over of our internal politics onto foreign affairs is not smart or a good look.

Tucker needs to go away and wander in the wilderness for a few years and find himself again. He’s done it before after CNN and before Fox News. He just has so much head trash going around that he is not very useful.

The bad news is that he can limp along on X and get enough attention that he still thinks he’s relevant and useful. He needs the full flush to realize how shitty he is.

He’s never been a favorite of mine.

I pay no attention to him, he’s never been relevant.

I watch so little political news I don't think I've ever watched Tucker Carlson.
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

    Chuck, we miss ya man.

I'm a fan of anyone that goes against the swamp news narrative...like the new platform just fine.

He needs to start pushing the notion of lobbying for funding for those who want more involvement in foreign affairs to be sent to those locales.

And push him further into irrelevance and crack-pot land.

Tucker was at his best when he was about to take the safety off his AK and put the smack-down on an Iraqi who was getting too spicy during a fueling stop. We need that Tucker back. Right now he is only useful as to being able to out-cackle Kamala when it comes to laughing.

I'm sure my bank account pales in comparison to Mr Carlson's, so I'll just say "Stick a fork in it, find an island and have fun."
I listen to him and enjoyed him for a while and in the right company he's still good, but he's slowly drifting way off to Alex Jones land, like some sort of Left Fielder who's on the spectrum and all you can hope is that he's still with you out there

Interventionism is popular and there are always a substantial number of American citizens yearning to go get involved. Getting them funding to make it happen would be quite popular with several demographics.

CNN and MSNBC would shove a hot soldering iron up their Arse for 50M views of anything.

    Tucker's just fine.
