Another plus for the 47; is that the slide is a little bit heavier than the 17 and that cuts down a little on the recoil. IIRC, the G47 slide weighs almost as much as the gen 5 G34 slide.
Like the above poster said, with a G47 and a G19.5 you can swap slides around as you desire.

Plus, Glock is discontinuing the G17 MOS in favor of the G47 MOS.
The non-MOS G17 will still be in production.
I'd just get the G34 to augment the G19 and G17. Keep, carry, shoot, and generally live with all three for awhile and later decide what to keep or give away. Personally, I've got all three (and even more Glocks) and have no plans to reduce my gun inventory or give any away.
The 17's slide being slightly shorter than the light means that it has some slight advantage if used in a contact shot situation, as the light can provide a small amount of standoff, while the 34 protruding beyond the light means that it would be easier to be pushed out of battery in the same situation.
Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

I really wanted a 34 recently but sold it after shooting just over 150 rounds. It had more of a push recoil that just felt weird. I want that 47 now though, several others have said that it feels similar but softer than my 19 and 45.

I am the opposite. I’ve been rocking a g34.3 for years as a training and carry gun. I also have g19.3 and g26.3. I just got gifted a delta point pro and was going to mill my 34, but decided to buy a gen 3 brownells dpp cut slide and built it and slapped dpp on it. It runs great so far. I’m trying to decide what gen 5 to get. G45 or 47 are what I’m looking at. I prefer the full size grip over the compact.
If using an X300, a 34 is still shorter overall.
Not mine.

It's interesting the X300 is so much longer than my less expensive TLR-1. Not mine either:
To be clear, the length of pistol + light did not drive me to think about a G34. It's just that running a light makes the OAL a non-factor between them.

P.S. I picked up a used Gen3 G34 and shot it a little this weekend. Time will decide if I keep all 3 - G19, G17, G34.
P.P.S. Folks hate the Gen3 grooves, but the 17/34 grooves fit my sausage fingers like they were made for me. The G19 gooves are another matter, but my G19 is a Gen2 anyway.
