If my memory serves me right, its use was to serve as "shock" protection for the incandescent LA. There's a foam/rubber-rubber/foam(?) surround inside the bezel. Now with regards to the LED drop-in, if used for extended periods of time, I don't know how that may affect the surround? Either melt it or not? But seems to stand the "heat" from the HOLAs.

Here’s my preference for a light setup—two of them, for starters. One must be at 12:00. The TLR-2 brings a bonus with it, the laser. Getting the laser close to the bore is a big deal with me and a bit of a problem—so that big, ugly, clunky-lookin’ mount is my solution. It’s aluminum of course so it does not add as much weight as you might think. It has locating pins that bracket the FSB for some extra knock-proofing, and the wings on either side of the front sight contain tritium inserts, so—instant, bolt-on night sights without having to suffer a big fat post that makes longer shots more iffy.

I know some of you have seen this before but I figured it was a fit for this thread….. I really hope to have these available in 09.

Fantastic idea! And the first viable reason to get a laser/light combo that I have seen.

I hope you get these into production some time soon.

Once upon a time ... but long gone now (the mount, not the carbine)

I just put on a 300 lumen Eagletac T20C2 Mk 2 on my PS90... They also make their own weapon mount and pressure switch. As I already have the switch on my gun for the Unimax laser, I didn't want 2 switches....
