    What's On This MG???

    This was posted on another forum (with the same question) and I really couldn't think of what the tube beneath the muzzle was there for.

    looks like an homemade mod... maybe an extension to prevent the gunner to hit that front bar with a burst

    I'd agree that it's a homemade T&E stop, to prevent shooting something that might tick off the pilot & crew chief.

    Sounds plausable, but why the "wire" or whatever at the rear going up to the front sight?

    It's not an electrical wire, but a securing wire to make sure what ever it is doesn't fall off.

    That's what I was thinking. A dummy cord. Wouldn't be very cool if it went into the tailrotor or intake.

    Look at the image in full size. It's a steel wire dummy-cord.
