Looks like a replay of 1973 (which is probably symbolic for the terrorists). Intel failure leads to surprise attack, eventual Israeli victory (with massive US support), and postwar investigations/accusations/resignations.
Maybe they needed a kick in their complacency. Although their intel apparatus is supposed to be quite good.
This feels different. It's not a military attacking, it is direct terrorism against people - and the hostages ( and I bet 10%+ are US citizens) are going to lead to a long, protracted event.
And it just happens that they are experts on the Old Testament... We need to put Palestinian into the same historical box as Carthaginians.. After three or four wars, someone decides that you are not playing well with others and removes you from the board game. We've coddled these Palestinians long enough.
This may be what gets them to go kinetic against the Iranian bomb program.
Apparently US intel doesn't track that region very closely. Or they just missed entirely.
I don't think we should need to have a super-majority of votes in order to legitimately win. That's preposterous bullshit. I don't recall any Constitutional caveats saying that Republicans have to have 2/3 of the votes in order to win, but the Democheats can just squeak by. Fvck that notion. (I realize you're not suggesting that should be the case, but I've heard essentially that mentioned on "conservative" talk radio I listen to.....in addition to the enraging use of the word "migrant"!) :shout:
