I still have yet to even see a single live round of this stuff. And we get some unheard of stuff from time to time. Shit... I'd forgotten about it until this thread bump.
Offered only as a loose anecdotal observation: just about anything that comes my way, I group it "just to see". The best SS109 in terms of grouping, for me, was Santa Barbara (Spain). I almost certainly tested each in turn out of different rifles with different setups, so it may be meaning less other than, when I do this I make sure it's out of a rifle that "knows how" to shoot decent groups.
Does anyone know, is M855A1 still considered to be "SS109" in NATO parlance? My understanding / recollection is that SS109 is a penetration spec more than a construction requirement, I know the Swiss P SS109 is made quite differently from others. This is probably from twelves years ago, not sure if the same now:

M855A1 is not SS-109. NATO Standardization Agreement AOP-4172 for 5.56mm ammunition dates back to 2008.
