What was wrong with it?

This pretty much explains everything.

To top it off, they didn't post the review that I left on their website which was simply matter of fact about what happened.
If Colt assembled the lower, then it should still be covered for the mag release issue. Also, anything from Colt defense you can expect dings. They are notorious for having new rifles dinged up out of the box. Sorry you had to deal with that man. That sucks.

Oh damn and very interesting. I could only get the non ambi model but was able to get the MARC upper. Aside from the buffer, buffer spring and Geissele trigger... it’s all stock

Based on the evidence, I'm pretty sure that Colt didn't assemble it. Regardless, I wanted to avoid the potential of a who's responsible pissing contest.
Having purchased a good number of Colt rifles NIB over the years, I know what you're talking about. Still, they was way beyond what's typical for Colt.Quote:

Arms Unlimited did make it right by providing the call tag and refunding my money, so all is well. I've had many other successful purchases from them (including SBR's), but they should have been more up front about the fact that they assembled the rifles.
I gotcha. That still sucks though.

So I finally took this rifle out to the range. Bought in January 2023, then I had a baby, so no time at all for the range. Anyhow, I mounted a Silencerco Omega and threw on some Magpul accessories. I went with the Primary Arms PLx-1-8x24 scope with ACSS Griffin MIL M8 reticle. This is my very first .308 rifle and LPVO so totally learning about this platform.
Overall, a good time on the range but had a couple things happen:
(1) Experienced a couple double feeds. The spent casing did not complete the extraction cycle prior to the next round being stripped off the mag and fed into the chamber. Had to mortar the rifle to clear. I believe this is due to increased back pressure while shooting with the silencer. For those experienced folks, should I go up in buffer weight? If so, any recommendations?
(2) The illuminated chevron on the scope was going out while firing. Thought it was a loose battery cap, but I checked that. I emailed Primary Arms to make a warranty claim. Anybody else experience this?
It sure was nice being out on the range and look forward to shooting this thing to its full capabilities. I think a long range rifle class is in order.
Arms Unlimited has the new version of this rifle, the M7, in stock now. It appears to be the same except that the monolithic upper half is gone, there's a new longer handguard and the front sight is on the rail instead of being attached to the barrel. There are probably other differences, but that's all that I can glean from the picture and description.
