A credit card company will continue to authorize recurring account charges for a period of time, even when a card is reported stolen. That's a good thing because I have my card linked to so many damn accounts, including utilities and such, that it takes a bit to update new card numbers.
When I called Discover to report an unauthorized charge they terminated vendor authorization. Not sure if they would terminate authorization just cuz I said I don't trust someone as you're claiming.
I really don't fret over unauthorized charges. My watch and phone gets a text anytime my card is used so I know within seconds the vendor and amount. There's zero liability for unauthorized charges... nothing for me to fret over. As mentioned earlier, the biggest hassle is changing CC numbers on vendor accounts if needed.
