    Harris bipods

I noticed that HK has included a Harris bipod on one of their tribute guns:

In a polymer world, this bipod could be considered antiquated. But it seems to be like the C-130 aircraft or the AR-15 - it just keeps on working. Think it still has a lot of life left?

Well it's good enough for the USMC which says a lot.

I friggin HATE Harris Bipods. They flick out quickly, but good lord, after running Atlas pods... never again.

Harris is also standard on the Heckler & Koch, MR762A1 LRP III.

I've never had a problem with them. I've definitely used shittier bipods. That tripod the HK PSG1 shipped with was f'ing useless. While on the subject of HK, the commercial bipods (plastic feet) that HK shipped with 90 series rifles might be the worst bipod made for anything ever except maybe those barrel clamp AK bipods that weighed 10 lbs.

Basic model Harris bipods are IMO actually quite nice. Lightweight without being flimsy, compact, easy to deploy and do everything a bipod is supposed to do.

Harris bipods are still militarily relevant, especially for dudes that are buying their own. They’re not perfect for all uses, but not terrible. Quick to deploy and more stable than some others. I use one still sometimes. Also have an Atlas, which I love for other reasons. The Harris is a passable bipod that’s fairly light and stows nicely. It very much is the C-130 of bipods.

Don't get your fingers near the slot as the legs are being deployed. Pinched a finger in there while deploying the legs and those springs don't care what is in the path. Got me good.

I inherited some long leg (like 3 feet) Harris bipod from my dad and if it wasn't mounted on a gun, it would mousetrap the F out of your fingers.

Holy crap if you want that Harris on that HK M27 Tribute it's going to cost you, I don't think the full deployment kits are going to be flying off the shelf. And by the way the USMC is dumping ACOG's for LPVO's so I guess this is a legacy clone.

MSRP for the standard MR27 without the deployment kit is $4,399. The full deployment kit sells for $9,499 and includes a hard case, the correct ACOG with RMR, Harris bipod, and rail covers. The MR27 is hitting shelves now, so keep an eye out for it.
