Of course they would say that... should have contacted Colt directly and asked "Is Model 6930 a legit model and is this a legit offering of it?"

I've gone 14.5 all the way lately. 10.5s and the like are too friggin obnoxious, and adding a can is just as awful.

I only have one 14.5", at that point might as well go 16" barrel and skip the stamp.

I've got one 10.3" (6945) and a few 11.5" (6933s) and I've shot them with and without suppressors. I honestly don't notice a huge difference between my 10.3" unsuppressed and my 14.5" outdoors. Indoors, depending upon the layout of the range, they are all kind of loud without a suppressor.

The biggest difference is 4" of barrel is heavier than 4" of suppressor. Even things like a SOCCOM Mini, which are hardly the quietest thing in the world make a huge difference. The only thing 10.3 and 11.5 don't do very well is accuracy at distance, but that isn't really what they were designed for.

I recently got a 16" 6920, and it's a good gun. But I already had stamps on some lowers, and I just grew out of the impracticality of 10.3-11.5". So I put some 14.5s on them.

I got to agree, even though I still have 10.3”/10.5”/11.5” uppers. The 14.5 P&W I can transport everywhere without issue.

I agree, I hate them and none of my guns have them. In fact, my primary training range forbids them in classes. Here is what is stated on his website…

    MUZZLE BRAKES

Due to the possible long term residual effects of their use from not only the decibel level, but also from the concussion which can lead to possible damage of the inner ear, we are no longer allowing them on the range.

If your brake has the same output as a standard A2, you will be allowed to use it. If not, please exchange or remove your brake prior to arriving at our facility, I have standard flash hiders to use at no cost to you. Contact me ahead of time.

Honestly, Clinton ban guns with Brakes are probably the only time a military style weapon has ever posed an actual health risk to the owner.

14.5 makes the least sense to me of any length.

Pin / Weld marries you to a muzzle device and if SBRing why not go shorter? - Not a lot of difference between the handling of a 16” or 14.5”.

I own one example and honestly would rather have the small increase in velocity of the 16” and flexibility of changing things around on the gun without dealing with the weld.

You have to get that muzzle device off to get the gas system off the barrel, which wouldn’t exactly be straight forward.

If I SBR something its going to be < 14.5".

Colt SOCOM barrels are a very good reason to go 14.5”.

That is a bit different and I agree.

The one rifle I own in that length is a factory DD M4A1. I'd also not turn my nose up at a Colt in that length.
